CFD SIMULATION FOR AIRSPEED AND TURBULENCE VALIDATION IN MAIN DUCTING OF OFFICE BUILDING

This paper focuses on the calculation of sizing ducting based cooling load requirements main office building following regulation airspeed using American Society Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. The purpose this research is to validate turbulence that occurs in between manual calculations CFD From calculation, requirement 58.22 kW, for process an air flowrate 7117 L/s needed which designed pass through rectangular shape. size uses 1200 mm x 500 at a speed 12.7 m/s according ASHRAE. Autodesk Inventor software used modeling airflow simulation. simulations are performed by applying boundary conditions input parameters. results showed velocity design was suitable with laminar flow. geometry must be aerodynamically reduce pressure drop can cause increase so it outside required limits. Thus, simulation have verified validity calculations.
